April’s News – James Morrison puts up a stout defence in Spain!

James Morrison didn’t want to give up his Spanish Open title lightly……and performed great to finish 4th around the very mentally demanding Valderrama. In fact, there were some fine finishes from Ross Fisher (tied 6th), Richard Bland (tied 11th) and Graeme Storm and Peter Uihlein both making the cut. With +1 winning the tournament, this was the nearest thing to a US Open setup I’ve ever seen in Europe. Such a mental challenge!!

Then we all went to China. Always a challenge with the jetlag and culture change…..but you have to embrace this. Lee Slattery did by finishing 4th in an event that was plagued by poor weather and a Monday finish. I honestly believe that if we hadn’t got rained off on Sunday Slatts would have won it as he had the momentum! Ross Fisher and Richard Bland finished 16th and 19th respectively

Richard Bland continued to impress with a 6th place in Malaysia. He’s really starting to show us all what a great player he is!

‘Pistol’ Peter Uihlein joined the WGM team in Malaysia after a very slow start to the 2016 season. Plagued with a wrist injury Pete had struggled to get going and wanted some help to kick start his year. He finished 9th in Malaysia and then the following week in Perth finished 4th….which was nice!

Justin Walters continued his excellent start to the 2016 campaign with another 4th place at the Tshwane Open in SA. That’s 3 top 5’s so far!

Justin Walter’s kicked off his 2016 European Tour season in real style this January by having a 4th at the SA Open and a 3rd at the Joberg Open. It was great to see Justin continue his form on from tour school where he earned his card for the year.

Lee Slattery got his season off to a flier also with a fantastic 4th place finish in Qatar. And keeping the top 10’s flowing was Richard Bland who was 7th in Qatar!

Jimbo Jets to 4 Stroke Win in Spanish Open

James Morrison put in a flawless performance on a windy Sunday at the Spanish Open to win by 4 shots. His domination of the top class field was all the more impressive as he was +3 through the first 5 holes on Thursday! His mental strength really helped him manage that indifferent start as he stayed patient and just went about his game plan.

Well done Jimbo!!!!

Paul Waring Gets 2015 Going with 3rd in Malaysia

Paul Waring got his 2015 season under way with the biggest cheque of his career so far in Malaysia. His 3rd place finish was impressive considering he usually misses this event due to the excessive heat and humidity that Kuala Lumpur often throws up.

Paul even had his first professional hole-in-one on the 15th hole on the opening day!

He’ll be somewhat disappointed with his final day performance but all of the signs are pointing to a great 2015 season for this very diligent and hard working professional!

Andy Sullivan Looking at Home on the Big Stage

Andy Sullivan’s progress continued to build momentum last week at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic with a very solid tied 4th position. Andy was drawn with Martin Kaymer and Rory McIlroy for the first 2 rounds…….something he really relished and enjoyed with an opening rounds of 65 and 68. Many players struggle in such illustrious company but not Andy, he just loved it!

Rounds of 70 and 70 over the weekend meant a tied 4th finish and the best is still yet to come from this talented player from Nuneaton Golf Club!

Hot start to 2015 from the tour players

What a fantastic way for 2015 to start with Andy Sullivan’s playoff win in the SA Open at Glendower GC. Andy defeated former Masters champ Charl Schwartzel with what could be shot of the year out of the trees and a 12 foot putt……then that celebration!!!!
Lee Slattery finished a brilliant 3rd at Glendower. James Morrison was 15th and Matt Nixon 20th.
Onto Abu Dhabi and top of the class was James Morrison finishing 6th with some great playing!

Morocco was a great week with Andy Sullivan posting a final round 63 to take second place outright. Paul Waring finished 8th with some really solid golf during the week.
The next event, the NH Collection Open in southern Spain saw Matt Nixon finish tied 4th in what turned out to be a very challenging tournament with poor weather conditions over the week. A 3rd round -7 was the highlight for Matt who’s recent technical changes in his game are really starting to pay dividends
